The Cheltenham Festival took place last week, and ahead of the spectacular event Somerset County Cricket Club held a special preview night at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
Staged in association with Alexandra Dunn Racing and Danum Partnership, the event was well attended and featured an expert panel which included ITV horse racing presenter Oli Bell (chair), Renowned local racehorse trainer Alex Dunn and Cheltenham Festival winning jockeys Nick Scholfield and Richie McLernon.
Following the event, Alex Dunn said: “”The Cheltenham Preview Evening was a great success, with the panel tipping up 18-1 winner, Jazzy Matty, for everyone to back!
“The venue provided a beautiful location for such an occasion and a big thank you has to go to James Voisey and the team for their help in organising the evening. We look forward to hopefully working with the Somerset County Cricket Club in the near future!”
A raffle took place on the night with all profits donated to The Injured Jockeys Fund (IJF).
The event also marked the launch of the sale of shares in the “affordable ownership” horse Sailed Away. 2,000 shares at £60 each were offered to allow cricket and horse racing fans in Somerset and the South West the chance to own and follow the Alexandra Dunn trained gelding as he embarks on his National Hunt career.
